Men’s Tennis Opens 2017 Season with Win

SALISBURY, MD.- The Juniata men's tennis teams began its 2017 season against Stevenson on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles cruised to a 9-0 win on the courts at Salisbury University.

 

Juniata handily won in doubles play. The closest match came at first doubles where the pair of Matyas Kohout (Prague, Czech Republic / Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newtown North) defeated Bryan Giselman and Wornden Ly 8-6.

 

Kohout was a winner at first singles 6-4, 6-2 over Giselman. Grafe won decisively at fourth singles 6-1, 6-1 over Peter Appiah. Other winners included Daichi McAuliffe-Uchida (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional), Dan Ansel (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), Jason Gerber (Commack, NY/Commack), and Sam Wherley (State College, Pa./State College).

 

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning when they play the host Seagulls. Match time is at 10:00 a.m.
