TOWSON, Md.- After a loss to Goucher earlier this season, the Juniata men's tennis team knew that they would see the Gophers again. The rematch took place in the Landmark Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon. Exacting some revenge on their loss to the Eagles in last year's championship, Goucher came out on top with a 5-2 victory to clinch their first conference title in the program's history.

The Gophers took a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Juniata picked up the win at third doubles as the pair of Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa/Garnet Valley). and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) won 8-4 over Josiah Meekins and Elliot Diehl.

Goucher increased its advantage to 4-1 with victories at sixth and fifth singles. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) was able to make it a 4-2 match as he held off Joey Caracappa 7-6, 6-4. The deciding match was at third singles as Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic / Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) was defeated by Seth Hoseman 7-5, 6-3. Hoesman was named the Tournament MVP.
