Men’s Tennis Tops Catholic 7-2

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Juniata men's tennis traveled to the nation's capital for a Saturday afternoon match with Catholic. The Eagles won by the score of 7-2 to improve to 11-8 overall and 6-1 in the Landmark.

 

Juniata won all three matches in doubles. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) won 8-5 at first doubles as did Dan Ansel (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) at second doubles. Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) paired up at third doubles and were 8-2 winners.

 

Polisena and Liberman dropped their matches at first and second singles. Kohout won 6-2, 7-6 over Matt Holtschneider at third flight. Gregory extended his winning streak to nine as he knocked off Rocky Alhaqbani 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles. Daichi McAuliffe-Uchida (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) defeated Rob Alexander 6-1, 6-4 at fifth singles. Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) won his sixth singles match against Ted Tiu 6-1, 6-2.

 

The Eagles travel to Scranton tomorrow for their final regular season Landmark match of the season. Start time will be at 1:00 p.m.
