HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Playing in its third straight Landmark match in a row, you would forgive the Juniata men's tennis team for being a little tired. The Eagles showed no signs of weariness as they easily defeated Merchant Marine 9-0 on Sunday afternoon at Raffensberger Court. This was coming off a 9-0 victory over Drew on Saturday.

The win improves the Eagles' overall record to 10-7 and its conference mark to 5-1. Merchant Marine falls to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Landmark.

Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) won their first doubles match over Daniel Zakrevski and Jake McDonough 8-5. Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) were 8-4 winners at third doubles claiming their fourth straight and ninth as a duo. Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) and Jason Gerber (Commack, N.Y./Commack) had a battle with Josh Levitas and Branden Deeter but the pair was able to pull out a 9-7 victory.

In singles play, Liberman was the first one off the court as he defeated Deeter 6-2, 6-0. Gregory was next as he won his eighth straight match and 11th overall with a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Zakrevski. Polisena was the last player to finish. He dropped the first set 6-2 but was able to take the second set 6-3 and then won the super tiebreaker 10-2 over McDonough. Other winners included Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville), Daichi McAuliffe-Uchida (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional HS) and Gerber. Gerber won his first set 6-2 and fell behind early in the second but was able to win 7-5 over Jordan Kendall at sixth singles.

Juniata travels to Lancaster this Tuesday to play Franklin and Marshall in a non-conference match. Start time is at 4:30 p.m.
