Men’s Tennis Shuts Down Drew 9-0 on Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Playing in its second match in an many days, the Juniata men's tennis team hosted Drew on Saturday afternoon at Raffensberger Courts. The Eagles did not drop a match on the day as they won by the score of 9-0.

 

Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia,/Saint Ignatius) and Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) had the closest decision at first doubles as they outlasted Vineet Vemulapally and Will Morisson 8-6. Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) and Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa/Garnet Valley) improved to a team-best 8-4 as a pair with an 8-4 win over Adam Clark and Chris Morville at second doubles. Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) and Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) took care of Nick Lanteri and Cole Leckburg 8-1.

 

 In singles play, Kohout needed an extra set but was able to defeat Adam Clack in a super tiebreaker 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 at second singles. At third singles, Liberman won his first set against Will Morrison 6-3 and outlasted him 7-6 in the second set to pick up his 11th victory of the season. Gregory pushed his winning streak to seven with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Lanteri at fourth singles. Also picking up wins were Polisena, Moore, and Lifshitz.

 

Prior to the match, the team honored seniors Gregory, Lifshitz, and Moore. The trio have played a role in Juniata's recent success as they have combined for 147 wins, participated in three Landmark Tournaments, and were integral parts of last season's Landmark Championship team.

 

The Eagles are back on the court tomorrow morning as they host Merchant Marine in another Landmark contest. Start time will be at 11:00 a.m.
