Men’s Tennis Holds Off Gettysburg In Home Opener

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's tennis team hosted its first match of the season on Friday as it welcomed Gettysburg to Raffensberger Court. The Eagles came out on the winning end as they defeated the Bullets 5-3.

 

The Eagles won two matches in doubles. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) teamed up at first doubles to take out Christian Deschapelles and Dave Musser 8-4. Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) also won their match at third doubles 8-4 over Kevin Maier and Andrew Corwin.

 

Kohout and Liberman had little trouble with their singles matches. Kohout took out Musser 6-1, 6-1 while Lieberman as victorious over Deschapelles 6-2, 6-0. Dan Ansel (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was the other winner at fifth singles as he held off Maier 6-4, 6-3.

 

The Eagles return to action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Collegeville to play Ursinus. Start time is at 3 p.m.
