GENEVA, N.Y.- The Juniata men's tennis team played Hobart College in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon at Bristol Field House. The Eagles were defeated by the score of 8-1.
In doubles, Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa/Garnet Valley) and Owen Grafe (Newton, Mass./Newton North) went to a tiebreaker with Harry Nichols and Jake Criss. Nichols and Criss won 7-5 on the final point to take the set 9-8.
Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) stretched the his first singles battle with Jonah Salita in the second set to a seventh point but it was Salita who came out with the 6-1, 7-5 win. The Eagles' only win came in third singles as Roy Liberman (Montevideo, Uruguay/EIHU) went up against Nichols. Nichols won the first set 6-3 but Liberman answered in the second set 7-5. The match then went to a super tiebreaker which Liberman won 10-8.
The Eagles head to Florida for their next matches. Juniata will play King's (Pa.) on March 7 at 8 a.m.
