TOWSON, MD- Freshman Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) was named the Landmark Conference Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday. It is Kohout’s first weekly honor of the season.
Kohout won a pair of matches on Saturday to help the Eagles cruise to an 8-1 win over Catholic in a rematch of last year's Landmark championship match. He and Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) trailed 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, but the duo rallied for a 9-8 triumph after winning a super tiebreaker. Kohout then held off Jon Lasota 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) at No. 2 singles as Juniata earned its second team victory of the season.
The Eagles will play on the road against Messiah tomorrow afternoon. Match time will be at 3:30 pm.
