Eagles Tennis Defeats Penn State Altoona

HUNTINGDON, PA- The men's tennis team improved its record to 10-4 overall with an 8-1 victory over Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday afternoon at Raffensberger Court. The win was also the team's ninth straight victory.

 

In doubles play, Sho Sato (Shiga, Japan/Kansai Gaidai University) and Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) had a close match at second doubles. The pair was able to defeat the duo of Adam Cook and Sergio Miguel 8-6. Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/St. Ignatius) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) along with Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) and Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) won their matches by identical 8-3 scores.

 

The only loss of the day came at first singles. Polisena was defeated by Geoff Zlobinsky 6-3, 6-0 and stopped his match-winning streak at seven. Gregory ran his win streak to eight as he knocked off Adam Cook 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. Sato was victorious against Adam Hack 6-4, 6-1. Moore and Lifshitz won at fifth and sixth singles with 6-0, 6-0 victories.

 

The men host Goucher on Saturday in a battle of the only two undefeated teams in the Landmark Conference. The match begins at 1 p.m.
