Men’s Tennis Runs Win Steak to Seven With Victory Over Merchant Marine

KINGS POINT, NY- The men's tennis team improved to a perfect 5-0 in Landmark Conference play with a 7-2 victory over Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have won seven straight matches since returning from their spring trip and are now 8-4 overall.

 

Juniata led 3-0 after doubles play. The duos of Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic/Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) along with Sho Sato (Shiga, Japan/Kansai Gaidai University) and Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) won by 8-5 scores over their opponents. Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) and Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) had a perfect 8-0 decision over the pair of Alec De Ryckere and Christian Miller.

 

In singles play, Sato improved to 12-7 overall and 4-0 at fourth singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jeremy Guettlein. Gregory improved to 10-5 overall and 4-0 at third singles as he was victorious 6-2, 7-5 against Josh Levitas. Other winners included Polisena at first singles (6-2, 6-2) and Lifshitz at sixth singles (6-0, 6-0).

 

The Eagles travel to Moravian tomorrow for a match against the Greyhounds. Start time will be at 10 a.m.
