HILTON HEAD, SC- Up 3-0 after doubles play, the Juniata men's tennis team took the first three in singles competition as the Eagles won their first match of the season with a 6-3 victory over Nazareth.
The first doubles pair of Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and Matyas Kohout (Krhanice, Czech Republic / Gymnasium Jizni Mesto) shutout Tyler Williams and Jared Sharza 8-0. The duo of Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) and Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) won their match 8-1 over Brian Rosiek and Matt Jennings.
In second doubles, Sho Sato (Shiga, Japan / Kansai Gaidai University) and Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) were down 6-3. Facing break point at 6-4, the pair held firm and didn't lose a game the rest of the way as they won 8-6 over Scott Trobert and Christian Bryant.
Sato won his dual match with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 decision over the Golden Flyers' Matt Jennings in third singles. Polisena (6-1, 6-0) and Kohout (6-1, 6-1) also won their draws.
The Eagles wrapped up their day with a 6:30 p.m. match with Rhodes College.
