HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's tennis team continued its strong play over the weekend with wins at U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Hunter College. The Eagles improved to 7-0 on the year and own a share of the top spot in the Landmark Conference, along with Moravian College and The University of Scranton, with a perfect 2-0 mark. Juniata will host Messiah College this Thursday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m., for the spring home opener.

The Eagles garnered back-to-back Landmark Player of the Week honors with freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) and sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville). Polisena has performed well in his debut collegiate season at the No. 1 singles position currently riding at seven match win streak and standing at 8-4 overall. Moore is currently on a 10-match win streak having not lost a singles competition since the first day of the competition season back in September. The two have paired up six times in doubles action and stand at 4-2 on the year.

Messiah enters the contest 1-5 on the year having yet to open Commonwealth Conference play. Last season, the two teams met over spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. with the Falcons taking the contest 5-2. Since that match, Messiah has graduated three players that were significant in the dual and Juniata has only graduated one.

Seniors Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Central) and Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) are making the most of their final season with Juniata tennis. Perow is riding a seven-match win streak in double play earning six of the seven wins alongside sophomore Mike Lifshitz (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy). Wisniewski is in the middle of a seven-match singles win streak and stands at 9-3 on the year. He has played every doubles match so far this year next to sophomore Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) with the duo coming out on top nine of the 14 matches.

After the match against Messiah, Juniata will host both the men and women's teams from Moravian College in Landmark play Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m.
