Men's Swimming Opens Landmark Champs Weekend

BALTIMORE, Md.- The Juniata men's swimming team competed in its first day of competition in the Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, with all team members setting season-best times in the 50-yard freestyle. 

Matthew Tiernan had the team's best time, earning 35th with a time of 25.47, which was 1.00 seconds quicker than his time from Wilkes in January for a new PR. Isaac March was directly behind in 36th with a time of 25.97, a 0.97-second reduction from his best mark of the season set at Misericordia in November. Jay Gajiwala was 38th, finishing in 27.13 for a new personal record. He had set a 27.22 at Elizabethtown in January. 

The trio will each compete in one preliminary tomorrow, with Gajiwala competing in the 100-yard butterfly March, taking to the 100-yard breaststroke, and Tiernan competing in the 100-yard backstroke.
