Men's Swimming Competes Against Elizabethtown and Penn State Altoona at Dual Meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata men's swimming and diving team competed in their last dual meet ahead of Landmark Championships in February as they faced Elizabethtown and Penn State Altoona. Penn State Altoona earned the win by a 200-15 tally, while hosts Elizabethtown won 222-14. 

Matthew Tiernan, Jay Gajiwala, and Isaac March each competed in the 50-yard freestyle. Tiernan had the team's best time, a 26.93, to earn eighth place. Gajiwala set a new PR in the event with a 27.22 to earn ninth. His previous best was a 27.66 set at Stevenson earlier this month. March was tenth with a time of 28.26. 

Gajiwala also set a personal record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:16.69 to earn eighth place. He reduced his previous best 1:25.52, also set at Stevenson in mid-January. He also raced in the 200-yard freestyle, setting a time of 2:28.84 and earning eighth.  

Tiernan was Juniata's lone competitor in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in seventh place with a time of 1:15.10.  

March raced in the 100-yard breaststroke, staying within two-tenths of his PR with a time of 1:25.92 to claim eighth place.  

Tiernan and March each raced the 100-yard freestyle. Tiernan was ninth and within two-tenths of his PR with a time of 1:01.81, while March was tenth with a time of 1:06.92.  

The Juniata men's swimming team concludes the season during the four-day Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at Loyola University from February 15-18.
