Men's Swimming Compete in Landmark Dual Meet at Wilkes

WILKES BARRE, Pa.- The Juniata men's swimming team competed in a dual meet against Landmark Conference opponents Wilkes and Lycoming on Saturday afternoon. Juniata was defeated by host Wilkes 97-22, while against Lycoming, they fell 54-28.  

Jay Gajiwala started the day in the 200-yard freestyle, logging a 2:27.90 to finish in third place. Gajiwala was also a competitor in the 500-yard freestyle, completing the event in 6:58.23 for a third-place showing and a new personal best in the event, going 3.52 seconds quicker than his time at Misericordia last month. 

Matthew Tiernan came in third place out of four who raced in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.47, a new PR that's 0.18 seconds quicker than the Cougar Splash at Misericordia in November. He also claimed second place in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 3:05.24. 

Isaac March competed in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing fifth from six with a time of 1:04.66. He was also fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the race in 3:19.90. 

The Juniata men's swimming team travels to Elizabethtown College this Saturday, January 27th, for a dual meet also featuring Penn State Altoona. It marks the final event before Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in February.
