Swim Teams Start Strong for Day One of Landmark Championships

BOYDS, Md.- This year's Landmark Conference Championship swim meet began on Friday, with Juniata's men's and women's swim teams both heading to the Germantown Indoor Swim Center to compete. After today's twelve events, the women sit in sixth place with 57 points, while the men are in seventh, with 9 points.

Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) was the lone member of the Juniata men to compete in an event today, swimming in the 500 Yard Freestyle. His 4:52.13 time in the prelims placed him 10th and set to compete in the B final. He would go on to improve his time in the final, clocking in at 4:49.65 and taking first in the B final, ninth place overall. He and Drew University's CJ Talerico raced neck and neck for nearly the entirety of the race, with Mona ultimately edging him out by a slim .09 second margin.

For the women, the relay team of Kristen Miller (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area), Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area), Emma Sprowls (Coal Center, Pa. / California Area), and Priscilla Diamond (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area) earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:44.93. Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Emma Mumau (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area), Miller, and White would then team up to take sixth place in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:12.23.
