Men's Swimming Competes at California Invitational

CALIFORNIA, Pa.- The Juniata men's swim team competed at the California Invitational, Friday evening.

The Eagles started off the meet with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny), Dima Kunstbeck (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS), Martin Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area), and Jackson Hoch (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) clocked in with a time of 1:39.73. The following event, Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.28. 

In the 500 freestyle, Juniata claimed the top three spots. Mona, Kuntsbeck, and Hoch touched the wall at 5:20.95, 5:36.37, and 6:00.29, respectively. The Eagles put up another strong finish as Berger and Kunstbeck finished first and second while Nicholas Gerencser (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) finished fourth. 

Walker, Berger, Hoch all took the top three spots in the 100 freestyle. Gerencser finished fifth with a time of 1:07.92. Mona, Berger, Walker, and Hoch finished first in the 400 medley relay coming in with a time of 4:14.91. In the 200 IM, Mona finished first (2:16.06), Kunstbeck finished second (2:17.37), and Berger finished third (2:27.86). 

Day two of the California Invitational has been cancelled due to the state of emergency. Juniata will return to the pool for Landmark Championships on February 15th.
