Men's Swimming Falls to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata men's swim team fell, 189-59 at Elizabethtown, Saturday afternoon.

For the third meet in a row, freshman, Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area) has broken another Juniata record. Mona broke the previous record of 10:38.50 in the 1,000 freestyle set in 1994. Mona took first clocking in at 10:26.71. 

In the 200 freestyle, Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) came in fourth (2:08.16) while Nicholas Gerencser (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) came in fifth (2:29.38). Brady Ott (Silver Spring, Md. / Good Counsel) claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke, coming in with a time of 58.36. In the 100 breaststroke, Martin Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) finished fourth touching the wall at 1:10.73.

In the 50 freestyle, Ott came in third (23.83), Dima Kunstbeck (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) finished fifth (25.87), and Gerencser finished sixth (29.42). Walker took the top spot for the Eagles in 100 freestyle finishing fourth with a time of 55.77. Ott finished fifth with a time of 56.48 and Gerencser clocked in at 1:05.63. 

Berger took third place in the 200 breaststroke clocking in at 2:38.53. Mona claimed another first place in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall at 5:06.95. Kunstbeck finished fourth in the 500 freestyle coming in with a time of 5:45.26. Walker came in fourth in the 100 butterfly.

In the 200 IM, Mona finished ten seconds ahead of the second place finisher, finishing with a time of 2:09.38. In the final event of the day, the Eagles took third in the 200 freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:35.36. 

Juniata returns to action after the new year on January 12th as they will travel to Chatham. Meet time is set for 1:00PM.
