Men's Swimming Opens up Season at Schweikert Relays

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's swim team opened up their season at the Schweikert Relays hosted by Susquehanna.

The team competed against Landmark opponents Elizabethtown College and Susquehanna University along with Lebanon Valley College and King's College from the MAC conference.

Juniata opened up the meet with a seventh place finish in the 200 medlay relay. Hunter Mona (State College, Pa. / State College Area), Martin Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area), Matias Berger (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area), and Evan Walker (Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) finished with a time of 1:15.61. 

The Eagles had a strong finish in the 3x100 breaststroke relay, coming in front of the fifth place team by one second. The team of Martin Berger, Matias Berger, and Dima Kunstbeck (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) came in with a time of 3:34.13. 

The Eagles then added a fifth place finish in the 3x100 butterfly relay. The team consisted of Walker, Jackson Hoch (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle), and Mona. 

The team of Walker, Kunstbeck, Hoch, and Mona finished fourth in the 500 freestyle crescendo relay with time of 4:54.1. Swimmers swam a 50, 100, 150, and 200 to make up a 500 freestyle. 

Hoch, Mona, and Kunstbeck then competed in the 500 freestyle shot gun relay, they came in fifth, clocking in at 6:17.89. 

JC then took a fourth place finish in the 4x100IM relay in which all four swimmers completed a 100IM. Martin Berger, Matias Berger, Kunstbeck, and Mona clocked in at 4:14.40 beating the fifth place team by four seconds. 

In the final event of the evening, the team of Martin Berger, Matias Berger, Hoch, and Walker came in with a time of 3:47.45 in the 400 freestyle relay. 

There was a no team scoring in the meet. 

The Eagles are back in action on October 27th as they travel to Chatham for an invitational.
