John Mumford has been a member of the Juniata College men's soccer coaching staff since 1989, and the team's Associate Head Coach since the 2000 season. He was honored along with head coach Dan Dubois in 2013 as the Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year. In the 2015 season, he coached in his 476th game for the Eagles.

He was an assistant coach with Chris Noyes in 1989, before taking the reins of the program from 1990 through the 1999 campaign. The Eagles posted a 51-115-10 record during his 10 years as the program's mentor.

Mumford guided the Juniata soccer squad to its most productive times in the history of the institution. The Blue and Gold booters managed just 19 victories in the 11 seasons prior to Mumford's appointment as head coach. In his first three seasons as the Juniata boss, the squad registered 17 wins, including a then school-record 10-9 mark in 1992. It was the program's first .500 or better campaign.

A successful high school and college soccer player, Mumford graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1982. He started at wing midfield for two years in the Blue Jay program and played on the 1979 MAC championship team. Mumford was also on two teams that advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs. He coached youth soccer in the Elizabethtown, Pa., area before coming to Huntingdon.

He attained his USSF "C" license in 1994 and his NSCAA national diploma in 1998. In 1999, Mumford picked up his Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.

In addition to his soccer coaching duties, Mumford is the Library Director at Juniata.
