Eagles Drop to Goucher on the Road

TOWSON, Md. – The Juniata men's soccer team fell to Goucher 3-1 on the road Saturday afternoon. The Eagles' only goal came from Nathan Weick in the first half, while the Gophers outshot Juniata 13-4.

The Gophers kicked things off early with a goal in the sixth minute of play. Jase Colino regained possession after tracking down a ball headed for the end line. He turned, beat a defender, and tried to put the ball back into play. Receiving the ball again after it bounced off a defender, Colino sent a flick over the Gopher defenders and keeper for Weick to tap the ball into the net to even the playing field.

Ian Edwards tried to get ahead in the 27th minute. Beating his defender in a footrace while receiving the ball to his right foot, Edwards took a shot, but an approaching Gopher keeper made the quick save. Goucher scored once more in the first half to head into halftime up 2-1.

The Gophers scored their third goal in the 69th minute of play.

Brandon Marzula tried to capitalize on Eagle possession, taking a shot right outside the box, but the keeper made the save. Marzula had a second chance with less than ten minutes to go in the center of the field about 25 yards out. Pushing past a defender, his shot was not enough to get past the keeper.

Axel Grater made three saves on the day.
