YORK, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team wrapped up their opening weekend of competition with a 2-0 loss on the road to York College Sunday afternoon at Graham Field.

Three minutes in, a York defender played a long ball down the left side of the field that their winger ran onto inside the Eagle 18. They crossed the ball to a defender at the back post, who poked it home to put Juniata in an early 1-0 hole.

The Eagles controlled the next several minutes of play, winning two corners, having a shot by Emmet Young get blocked, and another by Ian Edwards go wide.

York fired two shots off that called Axel Grater to action, and he was up to the task both times as he saved both.

A shot that went over the frame by Brandon Marzula was the final shot of the half for the Eagles.

The hosts managed four more shots in the final 20 minutes, with a header clanging off the post, but Juniata went into the half down just a single goal.

Three minutes into the second half, York played a ball across the defense that deflected before being pushed towards the near post to a wide-open Spartan, who finished easily to double their advantage.

Juniata couldn't find a goal the rest of the way as York held on for the remainder of the game.

Grater made two saves in goal for the Eagles.

Men's soccer returns to action at home this Wednesday as they host Pitt-Greensburg; kickoff is at 7:30.
