Edwards Tallies Two to Tie With Drew

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The men's soccer team celebrated senior day and earned a 2-2 draw with Drew on Saturday at Gibbel Stadium, with Ian Edwards recording a brace on the day.

The Rangers outshot the Eagles 17-9, with eight in the first half compared to Juniata's six and nine in the second as Juniata took three.

Devon Angermeier tallied a save early into the first half before Blake Cassel could retaliate in the fifth minute. Cassel missed high. Cassel took another chance using his head off a corner kick, but the Ranger keeper stopped it.

Angermeier made two saves before the Rangers found the back of the net first in the 24th minute getting up 1-0. Edwards subbed into the game in the 30th minute and wasted no time to tie the game up in his first two minutes of play. Amo Mashigo found Edwards in the box, who trapped the ball, turned around, and fired one into the upper-ninety far post in the 32nd minute. The Eagles headed into the second half tied 1-1 with Drew.

The Rangers missed right twice in the second before putting one past Angermeier in the 61st minute to edge the Eagles 2-1. Jack Haldeman took a shot in the 83rd minute but missed right.

Edwards wasn't finished and decided to even the playing field once more in the 87th minute. Gavin Rauhut hit a cross ball from the top left corner of the box for Edwards to place the ball passed the Ranger keeper off his right foot.

Angermeier managed nine saves throughout the entire game.

The men's soccer team honored their six graduates prior to kickoff: Sam Patston, Braden Whisler, Blake Cassel, Devon Angermeier, Jack Haldeman, and Alec Haldeman.

The Eagles head to McDaniel on Tuesday, October 25, for a 3:30 pm match.
