HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team team got back into the win column with a 3-0 win over Penn St.-Altoona, Tuesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.

The Eagles opened up the game with dominant possession of the ball as Juniata got off 11 shots in the first half. In the 36th minute, Cole Lesher (Muncy, Pa. / Hughesville JSHS) came from the left end line to cross the ball to Braden Whisler (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) who tapped in the ball to give JC the 1-0 lead. 

In the second half, Juniata extended their lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute. After a corner kick from Nick Sinapius (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville), Henry Doherty (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) headed the ball into the goal. With eight minutes left in the game, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick due to a Penn St.-Altoona hand ball in the box. Bass Diakhoumpa (Dakar, Senegal / Mercersburg Academy) took the penalty kick for the Eagles as he buried the ball in the lower right corner of the goal to ensure a 3-0 Eagle win. 

Juniata controlled the ball for most of the game as they held a sizeable advantage in shots with 21 while Penn St.-Altoona had eight.

Whisler and Doherty each score their first career goal while Lesher and Sinapius earned their first career assists. 

Juniata travels to Chatham this Saturday, September 21st at 1:00 pm.
