HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team fell, 3-0 to Mt. Aloysius, Wednesday evening.
The first half was scoreless as the Eagles were able to get off five shots. Sixteen minutes into the first half, Henry Doherty (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) headed the ball from a corner kick towards the goal but the Mounties keeper tipped the ball out of bounds. In the 28th minute, Wyatt Page (King of Prussia, Pa. / Shipley) was open and shot from the right side but the goalie slid towards the ball for a save. Three minutes later, Nick Sinapius (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville) headed a shot towards the goal but it went high.
In the 57th minute, Mt. Aloysius scored their first goal of the game. Ten minutes later, the Eagles took their first shot of the half as Bass Diakhoumpa (Dakar, Senegal / Mercersburg Academy) shot from the right side but the ball was saved by the keeper. Juniata had another close chance at a goal as Michael Realbuto (Collegeville, Pa. / Methacton) headed the ball towards the goal sending the ball just above the net. In the 85th minute, the Mounties scored their second goal of the game to lead, 2-0. A minute later, Mt. Aloysius scored their third and final goal to win, 3-0.
Mt. Aloysiys held a 15-12 edge in shots. Juniata held a 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Andrew Yeich (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) made eight saves in the goal.
The Eagles return to action Saturday as they travel to York (Pa.) for a 1:00 pm start time.
