Men's Soccer Ties Wilson

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team tied Wilson, 2-2, on a chilly Tuesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.

Jacob Grove (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin HS) tallied one goal and an assist while Gabe Duran (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) scored once.

Five minutes into the game, Grove came sprinting down the right wing and played a ball across the box from the end line. Duran ran onto it on the left hand side of the box and coolly finished into the left part of the net. 15 minutes later, Wyatt Page (King of Prussia, Pa./Shipley) sent in a low cross from the left side that bounced around the box before Grove slid and kicked the ball off the post and in.

Wilson would not go away, halving the lead three minutes later and then they found an equalizer in the 35th minute. The teams went into the half knotted at 2-2.

The second half saw both teams have opportunists to score before overtime with Juniata actually scoring from eight yards out, but the Eagles were called offside.

In the first overtime, with 20 seconds on the clock, Jarrod Gibson (Abington, Pa./Abington) drove in a cross to the left wing that Grove narrowly missed volleying in for the winner.

In the fifth minute of the second overtime, Grove crossed in the ball from the right wing that narrowly missed the head of a leaping Page.

The teams were equal in shots, 15-15, with Wilson holding a 7-6 edge in corners.

Juniata will play at Moravian, Saturday at 4:00.
