Eagles Falter Against Chargers

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Juniata College men's soccer team conceded two second half goals as they lost, 3-1, to Lancaster Bible Wednesday afternoon at Charger Field.

Jarrod Gibson (Abington, Pa./Abington) scored the only goal for the Eagles and Jacob Owings (Hanover, Pa./Littlestown) made three saves in net.

The Chargers opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest when a mishit cross flew into the Juniata net. The Eagles settled down from there, finishing the half strong. Nine minutes into the second half, Gibson beat everyone to loose ball and beat the keeper to knot things at 1-1.

Two defensive miscues in the final 25 minutes allowed the Chargers to score twice and edge the Eagles, 3-1.

"The team fought hard all the way through," said head coach Dan Dubois, post-game. "We are looking forward to getting back to training tomorrow as we prepare for conference play Saturday."

Juniata will travel to Goucher to open conference play Saturday. Match time is 4:00.
