Five Goals Put Juniata Ahead of Penn College

THE STORY: Steven Stroup, Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga, Jarrod Gibson (2) and Steven Guetzlaff each scored for Juniata in their 5-0 win against Penn College on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Stroup (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) put the Eagles on the board early with a goal in the sixth minute, a shot from 25 yards out. From then on, Juniata had the clear advantage, as they took ten shots before Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) netted the ball in the 40th minute.

Up 2-0, Gibson (Abington, Pa./Abington) scored off of a deflection 34 seconds into the second half. After two Wildcat shots, a Wildcat corner kick and two Eagle corners, Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) extended Juniata's lead to 4-0 in the 61st minute, assisted by Nathan Woods (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area).

After Guetzlaff's goal, the Eagles and Wildcats played evenly with only one shot opportunity for each team. However, Gibson capitalized on a opportunity in the 79th minute with another unassisted goal.

INSIDE THE BOX: Juniata outshot Penn College 20-7 with nine shots on goal. Meyer-Arrivillaga and Wyatt Page led the offensive efforts with five shots and two shots on goal.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Andrew Yeich (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) earned his second shutout win during his 90 minutes in the net for the Eagles. He kept the game scoreless with three saves on Penn College's three shots on goal.
