Eagles Shutout By Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, PA – The Juniata men's soccer team suffered a shutout loss to the Susquehanna Crusaders Wednesday night. The Crusaders took the Landmark Conference win with a 3-0 victory. 

Susquehanna struck in the 12th minute mark of the game on a goal from Eric Dempsey. Just ten minutes later, Dempsey found Pedro Souza to put the Crusaders up 2-0 before the half. 

The Crusaders held an 8-4 advantage in shots in the first half, while the Eagles held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. 

Dylan Thompson (Broomfield, CO / Peak to Peak Charter) was able to find an opportunity on the third corner kick but his shot would be high. 

In the second half, Susquehanna notched another goal to take a 3-0 lead in the 61st minute. The Crusaders would finish the game with a 20-9 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. 

Reese Fisher (State College, PA / State College) took a shot on goal following a corner from Aaron Kulig (Green Lane, PA / Boyertown) but the Crusaders' keeper would make the save. 

The Crusaders held Juniata's leading goal-scorer, Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, NC / Carolina Friends) to just one shot in the game. Meyer-Arrivillaga's shot came as the game was coming to a close and would end up going wide of the goal.

Achim Schwemmlein (NRW, Germany) got the start in goal for the Eagles. Schwemmlein recorded four saves against the Crusaders. 

Juniata heads to Goucher this Sat. Oct. 24 to face the Gophers at 1pm in Landmark play.
