Men's Soccer Stifled By Mariners

HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata men's soccer team (3-10-1, 0-5 Landmark) and Merchant Marine fought through the rain and hail in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon. The Mariners took the win 2-0.

Merchant Marine brought intensity to Winton Hill for the entire 90 minutes. They recorded 10 shots each half and finished with a 20-5 advantage in total shots. Half of those shots were on frame.

James Johnson (Cumberland, MD / Fort Hill) recorded seven saves between the posts for the Eagles.

Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, NC / Carolina Friends) was held to two shots and one on goal.

Steven Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, PA / Parkland), Reese Fisher (State College, PA / State College Area) and Dylan Thompson (Broomfield, CO / Peak to Peak Charter) did a great job as a defensive unit and contained the Mariners as much as they could.

USMMA also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks but the Eagles held strong and cleared the ball away from the goal each time.

Juniata looks to regroup as they prepare to face the Susquehanna Crusaders at 7:00pm Wed. Oct. 21.
