HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata men's soccer team pushed against the Penn State-Altoona Lions but the Eagles would fall 1-4 Wednesday afternoon.

The defense played aggressive and Juniata was able to keep the Lions contained for much of the match.

"They're a bend but don't break type of defense," head coach Dan Dubois said. "They work very hard. We've just been unlucky to have every one of our mistakes capitalized on."

The Lions held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal over the Eagles. Juniata had many opportunities to score but Penn State-Altoona proved to be resilient to their efforts.

Penn State-Altoona's first goal of the game was nearly saved by senior defender Dylan Thompson (Broomfield, CO / Peak to Peak Charter). The Lions drew James Johnson (Cumberland, MD / Fort Hill) out of position and fired the shot. Thompson didn't give up on the play and pushed to try and get the save.

"That's how the whole defense is," Dubois said. "They hustle to try and make it right."

Johnson got the start in goal and made two saves for the Eagles. Achim Schwemmlein (NRW, Germany) came in the game midway through the second half. Both keepers allowed two goals.

Juniata would hold the Lions to just one goal in the first half. Twenty minutes would pass in the second half before Penn State-Altoona found the goal again. With the score 3-0 in favor of the Lions, Juniata found a way to stay in the game.

Reese Fisher (State College, PA / State College Area) was in the midfield and sent a long pass towards the goal. Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, NC / Carolina Friends) headed the ball into the goal and the Eagles made it a two-goal game. The goal was Meyer-Arrivillaga's third of the season.

With just under 11 minutes to play, Penn State-Altoona would give themselves some insurance and make it a 4-1 game.

The loss drops Juniata to 2-5-1 (0-1 Landmark) on the season.

Up next in the home stand for the Eagles is Elizabethtown. Kickoff is set for 1pm on Winton Hill.
