Huntingdon, Pa., Four members of the Juniata College men’s soccer team earned NSCAA Scholar All-East Region honors when the awards were announced on Tuesday. Robby Higgins (Middletown, Pa / Lower Dauphin), Nick Stone-Weiss (North Olmsted OH / North Olmsted), Dylan Thompson (Broomfield, CO / Peak to Peak Charter), and Nick Weit (Lititz, PA / Warwick) all received honorable mention recognition.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete, who is a junior or above in academic standing at their current institution, must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout his or her career, while starting more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team. Players must also be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member, be in his or her second year at the current school if he or she is a transfer student, and submit the Junior or Senior College Scholar All-America GPA Certification and Signature Release Form.

A committee for one of the Scholar All-America teams considers those who meet the above criteria. The committee reviews both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the nominees. The national selection committee selects the NSCAA Scholar Athletes of the Year for men and women from all levels of the Scholar All-America teams. The women’s awards will be announced later in the week.
