HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Three days after the arguably biggest win in program history, 1-0 against the University of Scranton in overtime, the Juniata College men's soccer team will host regional foe Misericordia University. The match is set for 4 p.m., Tuesday October 1, on Winton Hill Field.

"[For this game] we'll keep challenging the guys in training," said head coach Dan Dubois. "It's going to be roughly the same game plan as before. I told the guys after the game [against Scranton] that I've never been prouder to be a part of this team and this program. Now we have to go out and do it again the rest of the season."

The Eagles won in dramatic fashion last Saturday against the Royals to improve to 9-1-1 on the year and 1-0 in Landmark Conference play for the first time in program history. Juniata is still unbeaten at home at 4-0-1 and has scored 12 of the teams total 25 goals in home contests.

The Cougars finished the 2012 season 16-6-3 and claimed the Freedom Conference title. Misericordia earned the conference automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III tournament, but fell in the first round to the University of Rochester 5-4 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw through two overtime periods. So far this season, the Cougars are 6-3 overall and are most recently coming off a 3-0 loss to 2012 national champion and current No. 1, Messiah College. The Cougars have scored 12 goals in their nine matches and are averaging 17.2 shots per game.

Since joining the Landmark in 2007, the Eagles have faced the Cougars twice. In 2011 the two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime draw in Huntingdon. Most recently, Juniata defeated Misericordia 2-0 in Dallas, Pa.

"I think the energy that the young players have combined with the calmness and the drive that the upperclassmen have, we just might be able to do that - to show up every day and put it all on the line and give ourselves a chance to win," said Dubois.
