BUFFALO, N.Y – The Juniata College men's soccer team capped off its weekend in the Medaille College Tournament with a 2-1 win over host Medaille this afternoon. The win puts the Eagles at 4-0 on the season. Seniors Andy Blunk (State College, Pa./Sate College) and Anthony Glossner (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley) and freshman Aaron Kulig (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) were named to the All-Tournament team, while senior Seth Ruggiero (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) was named the tournament's most valuable player for his weekend performances.

"It was an extremely physical game," said head coach Dan Dubois. "The guys handled it really well. It caught them a little off guard at first, but when we finally got our feet under us we were able to match the physicality. Medaille was as good as advertised."

Juniata got its first half goal on a header from Blunk in the 24th minute off the assist from sophomore Dylan Thompson (Broomfield, Colo./Peak to Peak Charter). Medaille attacked the goal throughout the first half rattling off 11 shots, but the Eagles held strong and the Mavericks were unable to convert for the score. Juniata added an insurance goal just three and a half minutes into the second half courtesy of Kulig from Ruggierro.

"Medaille got a lot of opportunities, but they were the kind that we are okay with giving them," said Dubois. "We did really well defensively forcing them to take shots that we knew we could handle. They weren't getting any open shots in the box. Jonathan did what he needed to do to get us the win."

Freshman Jonathan Phillips (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) earned his fourth win in goal this season.

"When we were getting ready this season we knew we were getting a lot of firepower with this freshman class. They're creating offense for us, which is great. The upper classmen are creating the opportunities they always have, but having the fire from the midfield with our newcomers is adding a lot to our offense."

Juniata has its home opener this Thursday, Sept. 7th against Mt. Aloysius at 4 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
