Azeles and Cassel Named to Landmark All-Conference Teams

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Senior Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) and junior Dane Azeles (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) were named to the Landmark Conference first and second teams, respectively.  This is the first time either Eagle has earned all-conference honors.

Cassel, the first-team goalkeeper, appeared in all but one of the Eagles matches, earning 16 starts.  He helped lead the Juniata defense to five shutout wins during the season, recording a league best 72 saves in 1,549 minutes.  He finished the year with a .720 save percentage.

"Ezra proved game in and game out this season that he is one of the best goal keepers in the region," said Head Coach Dan Dubois.  "The amount of highlight reel saves he made doesn't begin to explain what he has meant to this program over his career."

Azeles was an offensive force for the Eagles.  He led the team with nine goals and had a league-high 0.56 goals per game average.  He finished second in the conference in shots (58), shots per game (3.62), points (19) and game-winning goals (4), despite having played two matches less than the stat leader in each category.

"Dane showed all year that he was one of the most dangerous goal scorers in the conference," said Dubois.  "His selection speaks a lot to his impact when he was out on the field.  He missed two full games and most of another with an injury and still made it on the second team."

Juniata finished the season 9-9, but did not make the cut for the conference tournament.
