Juniata Finishes Regular Season at .500 After 4-1 Loss to Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – Freshman Jonah Ruggiero (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) scored the lone goal for Juniata men's soccer as the Eagles dropped their regular season finale at Scranton 4-1 Saturday afternoon.  The goal was his first of the season and scored on his only shot of the day.

Juniata dropped to 9-9 (1-6 Landmark) while Scranton improved to 13-1-2 (6-1 Landmark) with the win.

Ruggiero drove his ball into the back of the net from 10 yards out on a cross pass sent by sophomore Nick Stone-Weiss (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmstead).  The assist was Stone-Weiss' first of the season.  He is currently second on the team in points with 15.

Senior Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) finished with a match-high seven saves as he and the Juniata defense fended off 20 Royal shots.

While the Eagles will not make the Landmark Conference Tournament, they are still in the running to attend the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournament.  The ECAC will select teams in early November.
