HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata men's soccer needed just 12 minutes and two shots to earn a Landmark Conference victory against visiting Moravian College on Saturday afternoon, as Juniata scored twice within the opening minutes of the 2-1 win.
The Eagles' first two shots of the match each found the back of the net, with Nick Stone-Weiss (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmstead) getting credit for the game-winning goal, his sixth on the season, at the 11:05 mark and was assisted by Greg Hess (Hanover, Pa./South Western).
Juniata (7-5, 1-2 Landmark) earned its first goal in the 10th minute when Chandler Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) passed the ball through the Greyhound's defense to the squad's leading scorer, Dane Azeles (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg), who punched it by keeper Brian Boland.
The Eagles gave up a goal in the 86th minute to Moravian (4-7-1, 0-3 Landmark) but managed to keep the Greyhounds to just five shots on goal in the contest with Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) saving four of those attempts.
Juniata travels to Penn State Harrisburg for a mid-week match on Tuesday, October 9. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
