Juniata men’s soccer shutout by Warriors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata men's soccer fell 2-0 to visiting Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon at Winton Hill Field.

The Eagles and Warriors were neck-and-neck with one another throughout the first half, but an untimely penalty kick in the 79th minute by Will Reiber allowed Lycoming (3-2-1) to take a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later Kyle Smith put a ball over the head of Juniata (5-3-0) keeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) to bump-up the score to 2-0. Cassel made four saves throughout the 90 minutes.

Sophomore midfielder Robby Higgins (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) notched his first defensive save in the 85th minute. 

Juniata had 10 shots in the match while the Warriors ripped 11, and the Eagles had four corner kick opportunities, while Lycoming had three. 

Juniata begins Landmark Conference play on Saturday, September 22, when they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 12:00 p.m.
