HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team faced another convocation, the Bridgewater College Eagles, in a well-fought defeat by a final score of 15-6 on Friday.
In a back-and-forth first period, the Juniata Eagles began the contest with an early unassisted goal from Zachary Forrest. The Eagles from Bridgewater responded with two quick goals of their own, and Kolton Black tied the game at 2-2 with his fourth goal of the season.
In the second period Bridgewater jumped out to a 4-2 lead. Each team added one more before halftime, making it a 5-3 game heading into the break.
Bridgewater took control in the second half with two quick goals before Black scored his second of the day for Juniata through a remarkable line-drive assist from goalie Justin Toney. Bridgewater led the game 7-4 at the end of the third period.
The birds from Bridgewater took control in the fourth period, scoring eight goals and conceding two. They sealed a 15-6 win. Forrest joined Black in scoring his second goal of the day for Juniata, but Black scored his third before the end of the match.
In addition, junior Vincent Bechler added one goal, while junior Charlie Newman had one assist on the day. Toney amassed 18 saves on his first start of the season.
Juniata will fall to 0-3 and look to pick up their first win of the season at Washington & Jefferson College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
