Eagles End Season with Loss to Drew

Eagles End Season with Loss to Drew

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's lacrosse team dropped their last game of the season 19-5 to Drew Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

Aiden Duran scored two goals, while Beaux Wojciechowski, Charlie Newman, and Kolton Black added one each. Wojciechowski tallied two assists as Simonini added one.

The first quarter saw Drew totaling six goals to get their lead started. The Eagles got on the board with less than two minutes in the quarter. Wojciechowski connected with Duran, who turned and scored from the right side of the field. About thirty seconds later, Newman added his goal. The Ranger goalie popped the ball out of his stick while making a save. Newman snatched the ball and tossed the ball behind the goalie to cut the deficit to four.

Wojciechowski added his name to the list of goalscorers with eight minutes to go. Simonini found Wojciechowski on the right before he could rip a shot past his defender and the Drew goalie. The Rangers added two more goals to head into halftime 8-3.

Drew scored seven goals in the third quarter and kept the Eagles from adding to their three.

Duran's second goal on the day came from Wojciechoswski again in the fourth quarter. Undefended, Duran slipped the ball through the pocket between the goalie and the post.

The Eagles regained possession on a Drew failed clear. Black changed speeds, drew defenders in, and fired the ball into the net. The Rangers totaled three goals in the fourth.

Justin Toney and Matt McCleary totaled three groundballs for the Eagles, as Wyatt Ledeboer and Simonini totaled two. Toney had 32 saves on the day, breaking the previous program record for saves by a single goalie in a game, 29.

The Eagles wrap up their 2023 season, finishing 3-13 overall.
