Eagles Gashed by Gophers

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Juniata men's lacrosse team traveled to Goucher Saturday but returned with a 16-7 loss.

Jacob Wallman (Arbutus, Md. / Western Tech) scored three goals, had one assist, and two groundballs, Jack M Loucks (Toronto, Canada / Minden) tallied two goals, one assist, one groundball and one caused turnover, while Kolton Black (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll) and Matt McCleary (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge) each added one goal as well.

Unassisted, Wallman scored early into the first quarter giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Gophers answered back with five goals before McCleary scored his only goal of the game.

While playing with a man-up, Wallman scored in the third minute of the second quarter, assisted by Black making the score 6-3 with the Eagles eager to catch up. Loucks from a Wallman pass and Black scored back-to-back in the second quarter.

Wallman's goal was on the only JC shot to score in the third quarter as the Eagles headed into the fourth down 13-6.

The fourth quarter also saw a solo goal from Wallman, but the Gopher's lead was too wide for the Eagles to answer back.

The Eagles held a 39-37 edge in groundballs and an 18-7 advantage on the 25 faceoffs with Heath Gamarel (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Hills) winning 17. Justin Toney (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) recorded 12 saves and held a 42.9 save percentage.

The Eagles host their first home Landmark matchup against Moravian next Saturday, April 2 for a 1:00 pm start time.
