Eagles Can't Recover from Gophers Big First Half

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata men's basketball team couldn't recover from a big Goucher College first half as they lost on the road 75-58 on Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.

The Gophers scored the first five points of the game on a three from the top of the key and a backdoor cut for a layup from the left side. Evan Eisenhart scored curling off a pick and converting on a jumper from the right elbow that rolled around the rim before dropping.

A Gabe Guidinger three from near the top of the key made it 9-5.

Several possessions later, a Mason Hardy layup made it 14-9 Gophers.

The Eagles went cold from the field as they didn't score for nearly five minutes, as a Guidinger foul shot with a little under 12 to go in the half made it 24-10.

Juniata tried to claw their way back, as Hardy's driving layup in transition made it 32-21. Goucher closed the half on an 11-4 run as the Eagles were trailing by 18 at the break, 43-25.

A Chase Husted layup off a pass from Ty Kocak brought the Eagles within 15, 53-38, but Juniata couldn't get any closer the rest of the game as the Gophers cruised through the rest of the game.

Goucher outrebounded the Eagles 44-33 and had more points in the paint, 38-26.

Juniata returns to action on the road as they will travel to take on Susquehanna on Wednesday at 7:00.
