Golden Tornados Blow Past Eagles

Golden Tornados Blow Past Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's basketball team lost to Geneva College in the Doc Greene Tournament Championship Game, 59-34, Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium.

The Golden Tornados scored the first 11 points of the game, including three three-pointers, as they came out cooking. Neco Campbell scored inside on a hook shot, and a few possessions later, Gabe Guidinger stole the ball. On the other end, he shook his defender with a right-to-left crossover, rose, and splashed a jumper from the left elbow. Following a Golden Tornado bucket, Tyler Lapetina drove hard from the left wing and finished to make it 13-6 Geneva.

The Golden Tornados scored the next six points before a Mason Hardy free throw. Geneva made another three, Hardy found Campbell for a layup, and Guidinger hit Lapetina down low for another bucket in the paint, cutting the deficit to 13.

Geneva went on another scoring binge, rattling off nine straight to push their lead back to 20 with just under four to go in the half.

Hardy found Campbell for another layup in the final 30 seconds as Juniata trailed by 18 at the break, 36-18.

Geneva outscored the Eagles 23-16 in the second half to get the 59-34 win.

Guidinger and Campbell made the all-tournament team for the Eagles.

Juniata returns to action in the New Year at Moravian. Gametime is 3:00.
