Rangers Roll Past Eagles

John Kelly

MADISON, NJ - The Juniata men's basketball team lost on the road at Drew, 73-41, Saturday afternoon inside Baldwin Gymnasium.

Drew opened the game with a three and JC responded with John Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa. / Roman Catholic High School) drawing a foul and splitting the free throws. The Rangers scored on a jumper and Cameron Keck (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) found Marcus Hall (York, Pa. / Trinity) for an Eagle jumper to make it 5-3 a minute and a half in.

Juniata went cold for the next few minutes but held Drew to six points with strong defense before Nathan Markey (York, Pa. / Central York) scored on a putback. A Ranger bucket was followed by Griffin LaCarte (Belle Vernon, Pa. / Belle Vernon) dropping it off to Kelly for a layup which made it 13-9.

An 8-0 surge from the hosts made it 21-9 before Kohl Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa. / Cochranton H.S.) drilled a three of a pass from Keck. This did not stem the Ranger run, as they tallied 11 more points before Nate DaCanal (Johnsonburg, Pa. / Elk County Catholic) found Jake Holsopple (Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) on the left wing for a three to make it 32-15. A Holsopple free throw and a Hall layup were the final Juniata points of the half, while Drew continued to keep their foot on the gas as the Eagles trailed, 45-18 at the half.

The second half saw Drew keep Juniata at arm's length as they outscored the Eagles 28-23 in the second half to coast to their second Landmark win of the season.

The Eagles were outrebounded 42-32 and saw their turnovers turned into 22 points for Drew.

Juniata will travel to D.C. to take on Catholic, Wednesday at 7:00.
