Greyhounds Race Past Eagles

BETHLEHEM, Pa.-The Juniata men's basketball team lost, 79-37, Saturday afternoon at Johnston Hall.

Moravian got on the board first with a layup 15 seconds in. Brandon Martinazzi (Cresson, Pa. / Bishop Carroll) drilled a three and Paul Martello (York, Pa. / York Catholic) nailed a jumper to put make it 5-4 JC following another Greyhound layup. Martello knocked down a triple off a feed from Martinazzi to make it 8-4 early on. 

Two Nathan Markey (York, Pa. / Central York) foul shots made it 13-10 before the Greyhounds knocked down back to back threes before a Jake Holsopple (Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) layup. Nicholas Albert (Herndon, Va. / Westfield High) stole on the ball on one end and drilled a midrange jumper on the other to make it 21-14 with 10 minutes to go in the half. Another Holsopple layup off a Markey feed got the Eagles within five. After another Greyhound three Martello scored inside on a layup to make it 24-18. Moravian closed the half on a 16-4 run as Juniata went into the locker room down, 40-22. 

The second half was all Greyhounds as they outscored the Eagles, 39-15. 

The Eagle defense did a strong job on the Greyhounds top two leading scorers as they held them to 4-18 shooting from the field. But the Moravian bench picked up the slack as the host's reserves tallied 45 points. They also shot 51.9% from three while making 14 of them.

Juniata will take the court again at Goucher, Wednesday at 7:00.
