Men's Basketball Picked Fifth in Landmark Conference Preseason Poll

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's basketball team is slated to finish fifth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll after ending the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 13-13. 

Juniata received 29 points in the poll, seating them behind Scranton (70), Moravian (45), Susquehanna (44), and Catholic (42). The Eagles sit ahead of Drew, Goucher, and Elizabethtown.

Two-time first-time all-conference nominee, Marcus Lee (Carrolltown, Pa./Bishop Carroll), returns for his senior season. He is joined by fellow senior Seth Brewer (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and junior Brandon Martinazzi (Cresson, Pa./Bishop Carroll).

Lee led the team in scoring and rebounding in the 2016-17 season, averaging 16.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 24 points against Goucher (Feb. 15) and recorded a season-high 13 rebounds against both Marymount (Nov. 27) and Alvernia (Dec. 29).

Brewer started in all 26 games for the Eagles, averaging 9.1 points and 4.1 assists per game. He logged a season-high 18 points against Moravian (Jan. 21) and reached a season-high seven assists against Catholic (Jan. 7).

Martinazzi started in 23 games and averaged 11.5 points per game, recording a season-high 19 points against Scranton (Feb. 4). He finished the season with 41 assists and 25 steals.

The Eagles tip off their season against Mt. Aloysius in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Penn St. Altoona on Fri., Nov. 17 at 6:00pm.
