Men’s Basketball Selected For ECAC South Tournament

DANBURY, Conn.- The Juniata men's basketball team will have the opportunity to extend their season by at least one game. The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced that eight teams will participate in the ECAC South Championship Tournament. The Eagles have been selected as the eighth seed and will play first seed DeSales on Wednesday in Center Valley, Pa.

 

Juniata is no stranger to the tournament as this will be its sixth appearance. The Eagles qualified in 2007, 2008, and 2012-14 winning titles in 2013 and 2014.

 

This will be only the second time that the Eagles and Bulldogs have played each other. The two schools' only other meeting occurred in the ECAC South semifinals in 2013 that JC won 69-58.

 

The Eagles went 16-10 during the regular season and 9-7 in the Landmark Conference. They lost to eventual champion Catholic in the Landmark semifinals. DeSales posted a 19-7 regular season mark and 11-3 record in the MAC Freedom Conference and lost to Wilkes in the semifinals of their tournament.

 

The winner of the Juniata-DeSales matchup will take on the winner of #4 Arcadia and #5 Neumann. Game time on Wednesday will be at 7:30 p.m.

No. 8 Juniata (16-10), vs. No. 1 DeSales (19-7) – 7:30 p.m.

No. 7 Lebanon Valley (16-10) vs. No. 2 Swarthmore (20-7) – TBA

No. 6 Grove City (18-8) vs. No. 3 Penn State Behrend (20-5) – TBA

No. 5 Neumann (19-8) vs. No. 4 Arcadia (17-10) – TBA

 

Semifinals – Saturday, March 5 at Highest Remaining Seed

Semifinal #1: No. 1 DeSales/No. 8 Juniata winner vs. No. 4 Arcadia/No. 5 Neumann winner – TBA

Semifinal #2: No. 2 Swarthmore/No. 7 Lebanon Valley winner vs. No. 3 Penn St. Behrend/No. 6 Grove City winner – TBA

 

Championship – Sunday, March 5 at Highest Remaining Seed
