Scholly Named Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Juniata men’s basketball head coach Greg Curley has announced that Brian Scholly is the new men’s basketball assistant coach.  Scholly was previously an assistant at Maine Maritime Academy last year.

Scholly is no stranger to Juniata as he was a four-year player at the forward position. He scored 1,138 points and ranks seventh in program history. He also set a new program record for career three point field goals made, attempted, and overall percentage. Scholly was a Landmark First Team selection in his junior season and was twice a Capital One COSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

“Having watched him develop as a coach this past year, he is a natural and will play a very important role in our program’s continued success,” said Curley.  “As a player, he was one of those guys who had to work to be good, and who found his edge as much because of his ability to think and understand the game, as his athleticism.  Those traits, along with his familiarity with our system, our players, and Juniata, make him a great fit for the position.”

The State College, Pa. native graduated in 2014 with a degree in History with a secondary emphasis in Education. He earned the John E. Blood award for his excellence in the classroom and on the court.

“With such a young group, he is the perfect guy to connect with our players, serve as a mentor, help fill a leadership role, and to continue the development of our team,” Curley added. “Most importantly, his experience as a highly successful student and athlete within our program and at Juniata, should pay dividends for our recruiting efforts.”
