Men's Basketball Stopped by Drew

MADISON, NJ- Host Drew jumped on Juniata early in the first half and despite an Eagles comeback, JC succumbed to the Rangers 79-52 on Saturday afternoon at Baldwin Gymnasium. The loss drops the Eagles to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the Landmark while Drew improves to 7-4 and 3-0 in conference play.

 

Seth Brewer (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) led Juniata with 13 points. Kyle Koehler (Chester Springs, PA/Devon Prep) pulled down seven rebounds to lead the team.

 

The Rangers quickly went ahead 13-2 in just over four minutes of game time to open the contest. The lead grew to 13 points after two free throws from Mike Klinger. A 17-3 run by the Eagles, which ended with a layup from Nate Ogle (Falls Church, VA/George Mason), breathed new life into Juniata as it took its first lead of the day at 6:39, 19-18.

 

The Eagle lead was short-lived as Drew surged ahead by ten, 34-24, at 2:27. Juniata was able to knock the deficit down to eight after a traditional three-point play from Brewer with just over a minute until halftime. The Ranger lead went back to 10 points following a layup from Kevin Michael-Miller with 33 seconds left on the clock and Drew led 38-28 at halftime. It was all Rangers in the second half as Juniata could only get as close as 12 points.

 

Despite the final score, the Eagles did enjoy a 35-28 advantage in rebounds. Juniata also outscored the Rangers in second chance points, 13-0. Both teams' benches scored 17 points.

 

Juniata continues road play on Tuesday with a game against Goucher. Game time will be at 7:30 p.m.
