Case Elected NCAA DIII SAAC Vice Chair

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) welcomed new leadership during the 2024 NCAA Convention held in Phoenix, Arizona, with Juniata field hockey junior Lillian Case being named vice chair.

"I am looking forward to continuing to represent the Landmark Conference on DIII SAAC as the new Vice Chair", remarked Case when reflecting on her appointment. "DIII SAAC has provided me with the opportunity to include Landmark student-athlete voices in NCAA discussions, while strengthening my understanding of issues in athletics. I am excited to serve as the vice chair to remain involved in solutions, ensuring student-athletes are at the core of decisions made."

Case became a part of Division III SAAC in the summer of 2023, securing a three-year tenure as the representative for the Landmark Conference.

"The Landmark applauds Lillian on her appointment as Vice Chair for NCAA Division III SAAC," stated Landmark Conference Commissioner Katie Boldvich. "Lillian's dedication to advocating for fellow student-athletes and her commitment to fostering inclusivity within collegiate athletics embodies the values we cherish as a conference and Division. As she steps into this pivotal role, I know her leadership will inspire meaningful change and elevate the athletic experience for all. Congratulations, Lillian, we are so proud of you!"

Athletically, Case appeared in seven games for the Eagles this season. She missed the 2022 season due to injury. Academically, Case made the Dean's List, carrying a 4.0 grade point average for the past three semesters, and has earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Squad and Scholar of Distinction honors.

"We are so proud of Lillian here at Juniata! She continues to exhibit excellence on and off the field in everything she does. We are so excited for her to be the SAAC Vice Chair," said SAAC supervisor and Juniata Assistant Women's Basketball coach Abby Wemhoff. "This experience she brings back will help enhance our Juniata SAAC as a whole!"

The Division III SAAC plays a pivotal role in representing the voice of student-athletes within the Division III governance framework. Its responsibilities include reviewing legislation, addressing significant student-athlete concerns, spearheading national initiatives, fostering community engagement, and promoting greater understanding and involvement in Division III activities. Notably, the SAAC serves as the primary liaison for the division's partnership with Special Olympics. The committee convenes in person four times annually, with meetings scheduled for January, April, July, and November, supplemented by teleconferences as necessary.
